トランプは15日、アラスカでプーチンと会談した。
トランプはプーチンを笑顔で出迎え、「非常に生産的な会談であった。」と述べ、プーチンも「会談は建設的で非常に有益であった。」と述べた。
トランプはプーチンを友人とみなしており、会談は和解的な雰囲気の中で行われた。
トランプには、プーチンを処罰する意思は全く感じられず、プーチンを戦争犯罪人として、その場で逮捕すれば停戦が実現できた可能性もあったにもかかわらず、それが実行に移されなかったことは非常に残念だ。
ロシアとウクライナの停戦は、ゼレンスキーの交渉次第であり、取引に応じるべきだとトランプは述べているが、これはこの戦争の意味を全く理解していない呼びかけだ。
ウクライナ停戦を巡る交渉次第では対ロ制裁に踏み切るというトランプの発言は、世論の批判を避けるための口実に過ぎず、実際にはプーチンとの関係を悪化させる可能性は低いと思う。
私は、プーチンのウクライナ侵攻を厳しく処罰しない限り、世界は真に良くならないと強く考える。

Trump and Putin Meeting: Hopes and Disappointments for a Ceasefire August 15, 2025
Trump met with Putin in Alaska on the 15th.
Trump greeted Putin with a smile and said, "It was a very productive meeting," and Putin responded, "The meeting was constructive and very helpful."
Trump considers Putin a friend, so the meeting was conciliatory.
I sensed no desire to punish Putin, and it is very disappointing that a ceasefire could have been achieved if Putin had been arrested on the spot as a war criminal.
Trump has said that a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine depends on negotiations with Zelensky and that he should accept a deal, but this call shows no understanding of the meaning of this war.
Trump's statement that he will impose sanctions on Russia depending on the outcome of negotiations regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine is just an excuse to avoid public criticism, and he is unlikely to actually alienate Putin.
I strongly believe that the world will not truly improve unless Putin's invasion of Ukraine is severely punished.
