ゼレンスキー大統領、NATO加盟断念も視野に？トランプの安全保障に不信感、EUはロシア資産凍結でウクライナ支援強化
今朝、Yahoo!ニュースに「ゼレンスキー大統領、NATO加盟を断念する用意がある」という見出しの記事が掲載されていた。ゼレンスキーにとってNATO加盟は長年の悲願であっただけに、この決断は極めて苦渋の選択であるに違いない。
ゼレンスキーはトランプに対し「安全の保証」を求めているが、トランプの主張している安全保障は信頼できない。トランプが和平交渉を急ぐのは、中間選挙が迫る中、外交政策の成果を早期に示し、支持率を高めたいと考えているからだ。
トランプがゼレンスキーに対し「現実的になるべきだ」と米国の和平案を受け入れるよう促していることは、トランプがプーチンに対して敵対的な姿勢をとっていないことを示唆している。おそらくトランプは、ウクライナ戦争がプーチンの侵略行為であることを認識していないか、あるいは認めたくないのだろう。
一方、EUは12月12日、ロシア中央銀行をはじめとする機関の資産を凍結することで、ウクライナへの支援を強化することに合意した。この措置は、将来のロシアによる欧州侵攻リスクに備えた正当な施策である。
トランプは国内向け政策に傾倒し、国際協力を軽視する姿勢を示しており、世界秩序を破壊している。米国は本来、同盟国との連携を強化し、国際社会の一員としてリーダーシップを発揮すべきだと思う。
トランプのせいで、私は、安心して国際情勢を見守ることができないのは、極めて残念だ。

President Zelensky considers abandoning NATO membership? Distrust in Trump's security guarantees, EU strengthens support for Ukraine by freezing Russian assets
This morning, Yahoo! News ran an article with the headline "President Zelenskyy Ready to Abandon NATO Membership." For Zelensky, joining NATO has been a long-cherished goal, so this must have been an extremely difficult decision.
Zelensky is asking Trump for "security guarantees," but the security guarantees Trump claims are unreliable. Trump is rushing peace negotiations because, with the midterm elections approaching, he wants to quickly demonstrate the success of his foreign policy and boost his approval ratings.
Trump's urging Zelensky to "be realistic" and accept the U.S. peace plan suggests he is not taking an antagonistic stance toward Putin. Perhaps Trump does not recognize, or is unwilling to acknowledge, that the Ukraine war is an act of aggression by Putin.
Meanwhile, on December 12, the EU agreed to strengthen support for Ukraine by freezing the assets of the Russian Central Bank and other institutions. This measure is a legitimate measure to prepare for the risk of future Russian invasion of Europe.
Trump's focus on domestic policies and his disregard for international cooperation are destroying the world order. I believe the United States should be strengthening ties with its allies and demonstrating leadership as a member of the international community.
It is extremely unfortunate that because of Trump, I can no longer watch the international situation with peace of mind.
